From the intersection of highway #1 and highway #40 turn left and head south on highway #40. Proceed for 50 kilometers on highway #40 and turn right on Kananaskis Lake Trail. Drive 5.9 kilometers on Kananaskis Lakes Trail and turn left into the Elkwood Amphitheatre/Campground Parking Lot.
Hike Description
The trail starts on a paved path. Turn left onto the paved path and head past the washrooms skipping the first left near the ampitheatre. Take the second left past the bike racks and the trail is on the right. From this point the trail into the forest is well marked. The trail crosses a couple of roadways and heads through the campground before it reaches a 1.8 kilometer loop past Marl Lake which is surrounded by stunning peaks.
