Directions to trail head

The GPS track for this hike starts beside the south-west corner of the Chateau Lake Louise, only a few metres from the building. I would suggest that you start the hike at waypoint #129 which is next to the north-west corner of the lake, a couple of hundred metres from the hotel.

Hazards on trail

The trail crosses an avalanche path so check the signs in the area of the Chateau for warning. During the winter the staircase to the lake is snow covered and slippery.

Hike Description

If you start at waypoint #129 you will begin the hike on an asphault trail. There will be a junction with the Lakeshore Trail after approximately 100 metres. Go to the right (north). The asphault turns to dirt and the trail climbs gradually to the first of the switchbacks which eventually takes you past Mirror Lake. On the way to the switchbacks when you look across the lake you will see the spectacular Fairview Mountain. The avalanche path at waypoint #124 and is visible on the satellite image from Everytrail. At waypoint #125 you are presented with the option of taking a different trail to Lake Agnes or heading off to Litttle Beehive. I took the trail to the left which is the most direct to the lake and after approximately 100 metres is waypoint #126. This is the intersection where the Lake Agnes trail meets with the trail to Big Beehive. Big Beehive is off to the left. Keep going on the Lake Agnes Trail and you will come to a staircase that leads to the Teehouse and Lake Agnes.
