Directions to trail head

The hike starts on the north side of Highway #1A approximately 2.4 kilometers east of Exshaw. You will be parking in the ditch only a couple of hundred meters west of the Exshaw plant.

Hike Description

While the hike starts only a couple of hundred meters from the Exshaw plant, after walking a couple of hundred meters you will forget that it exists.

You will walk 500 meters from where you park on some 4 x4 trails before turning north at waypoint # 02. From waypoint #02 it is 600 meters to the point where you cross Jura Creek and climb the hillside above the creek. From this point on there is a little route finding but you are either on the creek bed or following the trail along the creek bank. Waypoint #04 is an area where there is a series of little pools that have been eroded in the rock by the creek. From the pictures you will see that the spring melt has not hit yet. I think the creek would be impressive when it does.

Great hike on a hot day.

Great hike on a hot day. Takes a minute or two to get yourself into one of the pools but once you are in it is very refreshing.

Secret Trail

A few years ago when looking for this trail, a friend of mine and I hiked up the Exshaw valley looking for the bath pools. Of course we were wrong. Local Exshaw hikers made us promise to keep this trail a secret; in return they would tell us where it is. Now that someone else posted this trail I am happy to not have broken my promise :). This is an awesome little hike.

Oops!

I feel kind of bad that I let the secret out but I did not know it was a secret location. I would imagine that this is the ideal trail for a hot day.

Looks Interesting

Looks like an interesting trail. I didn't know about this one but will have to check it out for sure. Could be a good one for a Summer evening. Good photos too.

Don't climb up above the canyon. You are missing the really fun part of this hike if you do. You can climb right up through the middle of the canyon and it is one of the most interesting hikes around. The kids love it.
