Hike Description

At the beginning of the short loop are several picnic tables and bathrooms. This is a popular spot for families to come to as there is direct access to a small creek. The trail gradually gains some elevation as you cross over three small bridges. A tufa formation and several small waterfalls are the dominant features here. At waypoint #1, the trail climbs up but only for a very short time. At waypoint #2, a bench allows for enjoying a very nice view across the ancient glacial drainage system. Shorelines of an ancient sea are visible from here. From now on, the trail winds through some nice aspen forest. This area is very shaded during the summer month. At waypoint #3, a serious of switch backs bring you back to lower elevation. This section can be very slippery and muddy as it is covered in the trees and faces north. There are some historical aspects to this trail as there are concrete foundation remains of Alberta's first creamery.

A note on the topo image: Signal loss just after waypoint #1 and #4 due to heavy tree cover.
